The Greater Goleta Santa Barbara Lions Club welcomed its newest member on Tuesday June 3. Carlos Medina was inducted into the club by Past International Director Howard Hudson. Lions Club members were on hand to watch the ceremony during its regular club meeting at Mulligans Cafe.

The Greater Goleta Santa Barbara Lions Club partnered with Dynamite Pickleball to put on a pickleball tournament at Earl Warren Showgrounds on Monday January 15. There was an Adult Tournament and a Youth Tournament with winners for each group. The event was a great success and fun was had by all the participants.

Kate Warkentin, an 8th Grade student at Goleta Valley Junior High, has taken the first step to become an internationally recognized artist by winning a local competition sponsored by the Greater Goleta Santa Barbara Lions Club. On September 23, the Greater Goleta Santa Barbara Lions Club participated in the Coastal Cleanup Day, leaving a lasting impact on the local community’s environmental well-being. The Greater Goleta Santa Barbara Lions Club collects gently used eyeglasses to send around the world to be used by our most vulnerable populations. This week roughly 3,000 pairs of used eyeglasses were packed up and sent on their way.

United Way’s Fun in the Sun program, an award-winning summer learning initiative, offers enriching experiences to hundreds of students and families in Santa Barbara County. The program gives 350 students the opportunity to enhance their academic, behavioral and social skills.
